Stanza removed here
In the first draft of this section, another stanza appears here, and reads:
"The infant hydrocephalus, who sat
At a bridge end, by a dried-up water course
And fiddled (with a knot tied in one string)
We come"(V. Eliot 75).
This stanza was crossed out by Pound, and Eliot removed it from the draft entirely. He probably felt this stanza repeated some of the same material from the stanza about the woman who fiddled whisper-music, and did not need to be incorporated again.
