In Ezra Pound's edits, these two lines are crossed out, and written in the margin is "Blake. Too often used"(V. Eliot 9).
"Blake," of course, is in reference to William Blake.
However, these lines remain intact in the final draft, probably because Eliot wanted to maintain this reference.
